PBwiki Mobile Edition

PBwiki Inc., the world's largest provider of business and educational hosted wikis, today announced the release of PBwiki Mobile Edition, the first hosted collaboration suite designed for leading smartphones like the Apple iPhone and RIM Blackberry.  PBwiki Mobile Edition is the first product to provide mobile information workers such as attorneys and consultants with comprehensive access as an integral part of a collaboration solution.

PBwiki Mobile Edition provides ubiquitous access to critical information stored on a customer's PBwiki.  No special URL or configuration is needed; users simply enter their PBwiki's URL into their smartphone (such as an iPhone or Blackberry).  PBwiki Mobile Edition will automatically recognize this fact and display a mobile-optimized interface.  This allows PBwiki to provide the same speed and ease-of-use for mobile users as it has for desktop users. "In this age of information, it is critical that we have access to the right information at the right time," said Gwen Jorgens, AVP at RBC Wealth Management. "PBwiki Mobile Edition will free us from the limitations of the desktop and empower our users to find information exactly when they need it, whether that's answering an email on their Blackberry, running into a colleague in the hallway, or at a critical decision point in a meeting."

Mobile access is becoming an increasingly essential requirement for effective collaboration.  "With the right mobile content and collaboration applications, most information workers could be productive while walking down the hall to a meeting, cramming in a little work before bedtime, or waiting for the bus," said Ted Schadler, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research.  "Of the roughly 15% of firms that are tackling unified communications — linking all communication channels, devices, and applications — the vast majority feel that linking collaboration and unified communications is important. The implication is that mobile communication and collaboration must come together."
